Jaguars are well known for their incomparable looks and outstanding performance.  Though it was set up in 1922 by two young Englishmen, William Lyons and William Walmsley, the first car from the company rolled out in 1931.

In 1935 the company came to be known as Jaguar. During the pre-WWII period it came out with the model SS 100, which had a 3.5 liter engine, and notched a speed of over 100 mph. The success of this model in the Grand Prix, the Monte Carlo and the Alpine Rally, brought the company into the limelight.

Soon the company thought of expanding beyond selling luxury and sports cars. This led to the birth of the MK I. It was sold to a much larger market than its previous models, at home and in the US. The MK II, which soon followed the MKI also got tremendous response. In 1968, when the company merged with Leyland it came with the new design of the Jaguar XJ-S.

In 1997 the company came out with the XK8. The XKR is a supercharged variant of XK8. The XK series is similar with the Aston Martin DB7. Though a lot has been changed extensively both cars have been inspired from Jaguar XJS.
